This has ZERO relationship to my last post, but I've had these models finished for a while. I have enough hounds to make a second pack, but no more handlers... I'll have to add that to my list of models to acquire!

The Chaos Host of Maulblade the Doomkin
I finally had the chance to set up the table to get a shot of my Chaos army, led by Maulblade the Doomkin!
I had to put a lot of light on the table to get a good shot, but the end result washed out the Chaos Warrior banner. Oh, well, I am still pleased with the results! I discovered after much fiddling about with the alignment that I need to take the time to make movement trays!
Left to right: Caramon the Rabid and part of his Chaos Dwarf warband, the Blighted Host led by Maulblade himself, Moog of Marrow Moor (the Troll), Wobblegnash's Reavers, and the Beastman Regiment With No Name.
Of course, you can see better photos in the Chaos Gallery! For that matter, every model in this army had been featured in an individual photo if you scroll back through the blog.
I really have a lot on my plate these days, so it may be a while before I get around to adding more, but going forward I want to add more Beastmen and a unit of Minotaurs (man, are these guys are pricey on eBay). I also want to bulk up my Chaos allies with a Chaos Sorcerer, more Chaos Dwarf Berserkers and Crossbowmen, a unit of Chaos Goblins, and a unit of Chaos Centaurs. So far I only have the Sorcerer and the Chaos Goblins so they will probably be next as I am trying not to spend too much on eBay over the summer.
My Undead army doesn't rally look like an army yet, so I decided to hold off on the group shot for them. I have a lot of unpainted Undead around the house so they will probably see expansion before the Chaos horde. Anyway, back to Rogue Trader next time...

Chaos Dwarf Berserker Regiment
Rawr!
Once again, I am extremely pleased with the unified appearance of the unit despite the wildly different models. I will add a regiment standard when I get around to expanding them, but I don't have any suitable models at the moment (the other Chaos Dwarves I have are all in heavy armour).
I need to make time to set up some terrain and take a few army shots!

Chaos Dwarves
... and this makes ten...
... or maybe eleven since he's got two heads! I really like this model and was thrilled to find it on eBay for a decent price.
That will be it again for now - I'll publish the regiment pic tomorrow!

Chaos Dwarves
Here's a twofer...
These are pretty much just armored dwarves without much in the way of distinguishing chaos features, but I needed models to fill in the ranks!

Back to the Chaos Dwarves
I thought it was time to finish up a few more models for my Chaos Dwarf berserker regiment...
This is a truly evil looking little model... the kind of thing from dark stories that haunts the lonely places of the world, kills cattle, and steals babies!

Beastmen Regiment
Now I have three strong infantry units as the core of my army.
I still want to make this unit larger to make them more of a hammer, but I'm happy with them for now. Besides, beastmen had two wounds in 3rd edition, so they will stand up to a lot!

...and that makes 12.
This is once again a recreation of one of my original unit standards from waaaay back when...
Finished (for now) regiment tomorrow!

My Chaos Army So Far
Wow, Chaos Warriors are expensive!
Chaos Army (2019 points)
Characters
Maulblade the Doomkin (Chaos Knight), 332 points
Heavy Armour, Magic Weapon (Enchanted Wound)
Wobblegnash (Chaos Marauder), 73 points
Heavy Armour
Stabb the Acolyte (Lvl 10 Sorcerer), 85 points
Rank and File
Chaos Warriors (11 models), 912 points
Double-Handed Weapons, Standard
Chaos Thugs (15 models), 150 points
Shields, Standard
Chaos Beastmen (10 models), 110 points
Shields
Troll (Moog of Marrow Moor), 65 points
Allies
Chaos Dwarf Berserkers (10 models, inc. Champion), 292 points
Level 15 Hero, Double Handed Weapons
I never dreamed this tiny army was worth so many points! I wonder if it's not overkill with Chaos Warriors and maybe I should demote them Chaos Marauders. The Doomkin weighs in at 332 points as well which goes against my play style - I prefer not to have more than 10% of my points tied up in a single model and no more than 25% points in a single unit. If the general is in the unit as I plan, that is one 1244 point target waiting for Curse of Years (or some equally terrifying spell) or a Morale roll of "12" (I CAN do it) and there goes over half of my army. I definitely need to get some protection from magic on the field. I don't think the extra points are worth the third rank bonus either.
I guess having too many points is a great position to be in! In a 3000 point battle I might use them as Chaos Warriors, but would probably only field 8-10 models in the unit and just rely on their WS6 instead of the extra +1 rank bonus. I need to bolster the Beastmen regiment and add another hard hitting unit like Ogres or Minotaurs to draw some of the attention away from the Warriors. I probably also need another spell caster, but I'm eventually going to use a sorcerer for my allied leader because I plan to add a unit of Chaos Goblins and Chaos Centaurs with my Chaos Dwarfs and the sorcerer is required if you mix more than one race in the contingent.
Anyway, I'm not finished with the list, but it was fun to find out where I am with this army! I need to add a couple more models to the beastmen regiment to make them a proper unit with a standard and+2 rank bonus...

Chimera
Here is a WiP one of the next models for my Tzeentch Warband, led by Githandus Threefold...
Chimeras a pretty powerful for a Reams of Chaos warband, so I've opted to use the least of the profiles you can generate and offer no bonuses for the heads, tail, etc.
Toughness 5 and Wounds 5 is going to tough to bring down but the creature only has a Leadership of 7 so Threefold will need to be careful of the creature's deployment because it may be easy to frighten away! Luckily, the Tzeentch champion has wings and will be able to use them to match the creature's mobility.
Shrug - not too concerned about it at the moment. If the monster proves too powerful I'll save it for Warhammer Fantasy games...

Chaos Dwarfs with Crossbows
Not drawing these out all week as I painted them all in one sitting...
They are currently part of the warband of Caramon the Rabid. The red, orange, and yellow was a nice change from all of the green and brown I've been using. I'd like to collect enough for a 'legal' unit of ten models. Of course, Chaos Dwarfs were not allowed crossbows in the army book, but outfitting them at +3 points each should suffice as they cost exactly the same as 'normal' dwarfs. I realize it is also completely unnecessary to be concerned about what is 'legal' in Oldhammer, but the disclaimer is for those who are new to the movement, may have just stumbled onto this post, and think it's madness to ignore the army lists! And yes, Chaos Dwarfs ARE allowed crossbows on the Realm of Chaos retinue table:
31-35 2D4 CHAOS DWARFS
These dwarfs have the standard profile given in WFB (page 213). All special rules apply. Dwarfs are armed with light armour, a shield, and a hand weapon, and may have a spear of crossbow if desired.
Ok, these guys have heavy armour and no shields, but the save is the same.
Things will be more scattershot than usual on the blog as I have three or four projects going at once - coming up are more undead, lots of different warband stuff, robots, jokaero, genestealers, Ultramarines, and maybe even some Bretonnians...

Beastmen
Back to the goat-headed beastmen...
I really want a unit of twenty beastmen, but these models are difficult to find at decent prices! I have some that are obviously followers of Slaanesh and may just combined them into one unit, kinda like how medieval lords shuffled all their peasants into mobs on the battlefield!

Beastmen
Why did they just make one guy with a bow?
I don't think any beastmen could have bows anyway, but I wanted to add some variety to the goat-headed beastmen that make up the rest of the unit. He will fill in part of the second rank and no doubt be mocked by his packmates for his inability to ever hit anything with an arrow...

Flay the Minion, Beastman Champion
It's been a while since I painted any beastmen. I've had this guy for a while now and thought it was time to get another rank and file unit into shape... This is Flay the Minion, the champion of my beastmen regiment.
More beastmen next week!

Moog of Marrow Moor
Moog of Marrow Moor is yet another of my all-time favorite Citadel models (the name is mine... think he was called Hill Troll with Club it the adverts)! I took advantage of the 40x40mm base to add a few more details than many of my rank and file.
I'm keeping an eye on eBay to try and get Moog some friends to back him up...

Lord Fiddlemaim, Champion of Slaanesh
Here is my Champion of Slaanesh, Lord Fiddlemaim!
He gains +1WP and his only obvious mutation which, unfortunately, is Pointed Head (Quiver in fear, o mortals!). I have a handful of chaos warriors and beastmen with obvious Marks of Slaanesh and may try to expand them into allied units for the army... I will probably paint them soon since I cobbled this palette together!

Githandus Threefold, Champion of Tzeentch
Yet another Champion of Chaos, this time a follower of Tzeentch, Githandus Threefold!
He will obviously lead my Tzeentch warband. Githandus will gain a random magic item and the Brightly Patterned Skin, Multiple Heads (two extra) and Wings (medium or large) mutations. He will have several additional attributes determined randomly that do not affect his appearance.
Guess what's up on Friday?
